Seewalchen is located half-way between Linz and Salzburg, in beautiful Salzkammergut, at the northern end of Lake Attersee.
Watersports enthousiasts will find plenty to do. At the Lido Seewalchen (Strandbad) with its heated pool, water slide and water skiing facilities or at the free beach in Litzlberg you can dive into your favourite element. But why not also match yourself with your friends on the beach volley ball fields?
Or discover the town on one of the marked circuits. There is a lot to explore.
The themed timeline walk 'Zeitleistenweg' takes you back to prehistoric times and the pile dwelling culture and gives you a good overview of the history of Seewalchen and the region. The pavillion dedicated to the pile dwelling culture on the lakeside promenade revisits this part of local history as well.
It is hardly surprising that also famous artists chose this resort for their summer sojourns. Gustav Klimt was one of these celebrities who found peace and inspiration for his world famous landscapes. Follow his footsteps on a walk on the promenade, now part of the themed walk dedicated to the artist, and travel through time at the sight of the Villa Paulick.
A summer holiday in the Salzkammergut without a Dirndl or traditional costume? That's just like a birthday without a cake! That must have been the reasoning also at the Tostmann family: Aware of this tradition, they have not just been selling dirndls at their local shop but also producing hand-crafted dirndls locally for three generations now.
Seewalchen also offers a varied programme of events such as evening concerts with the local brass band, summer festivals of local associations, comedy-shows, classical music concerts and literary readings.
Thanks to the central location of Seewalchen am Attersee all the excursion destinations of the Salzkammergut can be easily reached. The salt mines or the Dachstein Ice Caves, the imperial Bad Ischl or the UNESCO world heritage site Hallstatt are only a short drive (1 to 1.5 hours) away.
